“Bouncing back” after pregnancy

Have you ever felt the pressure to “bounce back” after pregnancy? Me too. Our bodies go through so much trauma in those 9 months, so why do we expect them to go “back to normal” after only 6 weeks? If you’re adjusting to your new postpartum body, I feel you. I’ve been there twice. You want to speed up the process and see results, but it takes time.

First and foremost, don’t jump back into exercising until you’ve gotten clearance at 6-8 weeks from your doctor. You don’t want to risk hurting yourself causing more trauma to your body. Once you’ve been given the all clear, ease back into it. Your fitness routine will look different now with a new baby and your body will feel different. But you can and will get your groove back.

Keeping it real with you. Some days I don’t like what I see in the mirror. I get frustrated at the belly pooch that just won’t seem to go away. It’s taken some work, but I’ve come to accept that my body will never be what it was before kids. And that’s OK! I have more love, appreciation and respect for my body than ever before.

Today, I’m challenging you to look in the mirror and stand in awe of what your body has done. You are amazing, mama!
